Theta Delta Chi:
About TDX

The Theta Delta Chi Fraternity was founded in 1847 at Union College in New York. Sixty-six years later the Xi Deuteron Charge was founded at the University of Washington. Since its inception in 1913, the Charge has thrived for nearly a hundred years while experiencing the twentieth century events that changed the nation and the world. The story of the Xi Deuteron Charge itself is also rich in history, including the construction of the Charge House in 1916, a monumental structure within the University of Washington community; the Greek-wide drought of the late 1960s; and the payment of the $120,000 mortgage in the 1980s.

In the early years of the millenium, the future of the Charge became dim and in doubt. During the 2005-2006 school year, the brotherhood consisted of roughly a dozen members. Only one member would be returning the following school year. The house began filling up with boarders.

Meanwhile, a couple of freshmen from the nearby dorms were looking to either join or start a new fraternity. Upon hearing of the state of Theta Delta Chi, the young gentlemen decided instead to save the Charge and become re-founding fathers; uphold the traditional ideals and standards of the Theta Delta Chi fraternity, while at the same time forming and incorporating new visions and goals for the Charge. In the fall of 2006, the house was cleared of boarders, the house was cleaned, a cook was hired, and the lone returning member was welcomed by nearly thirty new founding brothers. Each of these brothers brought their diverse experiences and knowledge, as well as their passion for brotherhood and drive to succeed. The following autumn, a pledge class of nineteen was gathered to strengthen and broaden the brotherhood.

This new tradition continues to this day, as Theta Delta Chi continues to make history that will be long remembered in the charge's legacy.
